AVI10 – Visual Arts is a dynamic, hands-on course that invites students to discover and develop their creative potential through visual expression. Designed for both new and experienced artists, this course introduces the fundamental elements and principles of design while encouraging students to think critically and communicate visually.
Through engaging studio projects and guided experimentation, students learn how to apply line, shape, colour, space, and texture to create meaningful artwork. They explore a variety of techniques and materials—including drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media—building confidence in both technical skill and personal style.
Beyond the studio, students develop visual literacy by analyzing and reflecting on the role of art across cultures and time periods. They explore how artistic movements, Indigenous art forms, and contemporary works express identity, tell stories, and shape society. This exposure nurtures cultural awareness and helps students appreciate the diverse ways art can connect people and ideas.
AVI10 fosters creative risk-taking, personal reflection, and artistic growth, preparing students to engage thoughtfully with the visual world around them. Whether pursuing future studies in the arts or simply exploring a new form of self-expression, students leave this course with a deeper understanding of how to see, interpret, and shape the world through art.
