AMU10 – Grade 9 Music is an immersive course that introduces students to the universal language of music through performance, composition, and critical listening. Students engage in hands-on learning as they practice instrumental techniques, compose original pieces, and interpret notated and improvised music. Student achievement in AMU10 is evaluated through a combination of ongoing coursework and final evaluations:
- 70% of the final grade is based on unit evaluations, quizzes, and assignments
- 30% of the final grade is based on final evaluations:
- 10% from a culminating creative project or recorded performance
- 20% from a final written or theory-based exam
All assessments align with the expectations of the Ontario Ministry of Education and are designed to evaluate both technical proficiency and creative expression.
